I have received an invitation to host an exhibit table to display my books at the ICAN (Inter-Agency Council on Child Abuse and Neglect) Conference in LA in Sept 2015. I am excited about this conference since this will give me another opportunity to meet individuals focused on prevention of child abuse and neglect and discuss relevant issues.
Here is an excerpt from their website:
For the 20th consecutive year, ICAN (Inter-Agency Council on Child Abuse and Neglect) and ICAN Associates will host NEXUS: Violence Within the Home and Its Effects on Children. Each year the NEXUS Conference offers unique and innovative training for numerous professionals, community organizations, child advocates and students.
The NEXUS Conference examines a wide range of issues related to family violence and the relationship between child abuse and domestic violence. Numerous workshops deal with such critically important subjects such as:
- effects on children witnessing family violence
- child abuse and domestic violence fatalities
- adolescent suicidal crises
- the effects of substance abuse on children
- abuse of disabled children and adults
- teen dating violence
- understanding and responding to children in crisis
- youth involvement in violence prevention/intervention
