I am in Montgomery, AL, this week presenting at the Alabama Counseling Association conference. I will have two presentations, based on each of my books. Topics of my presentations are: (1) PTSD from bullying triggers obsessive compulsive disorder; and, (2) Prevention of child sexual abuse – role of a counselor. I also have an exhibit table at the conference to display my books.

I always have a very interesting and positive experience whenever I come to conferences like this. Many of the attendees stop by my booth and have discussions about my books and presentations. They confirm the fact that bullying is well and alive all over the United States. They talk about what they have been trying to do at their schools to minimize bullying. They sincerely appreciate what I am trying to do, i.e., establish the fact that bullying can have long lasting psychological impact.

Their reactions are also fairly similar regarding my second book. They all seem to agree with the fact that we are still not focusing enough on ‘prevention’ of child sexual abuse. These kinds of discussions give me the strength that I need to continue my battles against bullying and against child sexual abuse. I will continue my efforts no matter what, but these supporting messages and discussions certainly help in the process.
