It was a wonderful experience participating in the “Take Back The Night” event last week in Winfield, KS. It was quite a well-attended event, lasting for a little over 3 hours. I felt honored to have been given the opportunity to speak at this event. It’s always exciting to see communities gearing up for events like this.
Following was the announcement for this event:
Cowley County’s First Ever TAKE BACK THE NIGHT: It’s a Rally! It’s a Release! It’s Empowering, Encouraging and Entertaining! There will be music, provided by the amazing Clayton Crawford & the talented Piper Leigh. National Author and Speaker Sumi Mukherjee is coming back to Winfield for the keynote address. Local survivors will tell their stories and we will open the mic for slam poetry and others who would like to have their voice heard! The night culminates with a March around Island Park & a Survivor’s Circle. *Food is available for purchase. *Bring a lawn chair and an open heart – we’d love to see you there! 5:30-8:30 p.m. Monday, April 20th at Island Park.
It is clear to me that we need a lot of events like this around the country so we can all work together to make a difference!!
